This album consists of two tracks, with very long names in Finnish I am not even going to pretend to understand. They're both classics; real highlights of this band's career.
This is the vinyl reissue (acquired when I saw them support Primordial a few years ago). So each track has one disc and is split in the middle across both sides. As a hard to find edition it's a bit disappointing with little to nothing in the way of limited art and standard weight card stock and vinyl has been used. But you don't care about that. What you care about is how the music engrosses you; how the gentle introductions over the sound of grinding ice give way to the signature Moonsorrow folky sound. Very overt black metal stylistic influences with frequent tremolo picking and vocals, with a distinctly harsh and brutal delivery, however you can only compare this to progressive masters like Emperor and Arcturus. Song structures are long, winding, self-referential and mesmerising, best thought of as movements built around a crescendo.
it's hard to post about this record without gushing because it is really that good. A standout of metal, one of the genre's premiere releases in over a half-century of existence.
